The faded text says MOI, j'aime la …
which is French for I love Wiel's beer.

Don't miss the hand offering the glass with the golden liquid.

We have another wall from Brussels with the same drawing and stating
La bière de qualité or The quality beer.

Kromeríz (Czechia); v.2002;
pict. H. De Meyer
The brewery Cerná Hora is mentioned for the first time in a text from 1530, but is thought to be born much earlier. The upper part of the wall gives Cerná Hora's different brands. Some of the names are chosen for their historical meaning. E.g. Tas is named after Tas Cernohorský an owner of the company in the 16th century.

Dorada (= golden)
is a brand from the Compañia Cervecera de Canarias (CCC)
The company owns two brewing factories, a mineral water factory and nine depots on the Canary Islands. The first Dorada was bottled in 1948 The beer comes in two varieties Especial and Pilsen.

It is clear that the artist thoroughly studied his subject.
He could have contented himself with a static display (remember Wiel's), but he did much better. The surface moves under the right amount of froth (except if you are British). The liquid comes down with lots of air bubbles.
Waterdrops form on the cool outside of the glass. The bottle and the beer cast their shadow on the wall. And, before you pity the poor folks on the top floor for loosing their views, you must realise that even the windows are painted. The ornaments of the façade are continued in paint on the side-wall.

Nobody could possibly improve this one. The Art of painted advertisements culminates exactly here.

Other trompe l'oeil effects: Bauhaus in Innsbruck

Moskow (Russia), ix.2000; pict. M. Chartier
The Russians may loose a submarine now and then, but they know how to paint a nice mural. Compare with Dorada earlier on this page: both stretch the golden brew all-over, but enliven the scene in a different manner.

Botchkarov of the Bravo brewery became Heineken's in 2002.

Batsjkarjóv brings the message in a small scene for
two people and some bottles.

1st person: How excellent this Batsjkarjóv
2nd person: I love a honest beer
bottles (upper floor): psjjt

Perle 28 Caulier

Caulier is a small brewery from Peruwelz (Belgium).

Not exactly a painting, but certainly exceptional because made of coloured tiles.

Picture taken from the Brussels Airport train, hence not as crisp as we are used to.

Vedett is a beer of brewery Moortgat which was founded in 1871 by Jan Moortgat. His son Albert created Vedett in 1945.
