The brand was born in 1929 and now carries a range of 100+ models. Buying Thermor means adopting un art de vivre à la Française

Company's site was at: www.thermor.com but was gone when we checked in Sept 2015.

Pont à Mousson (France); VI.1999;
pict A. Guët

Both belong to the Groupe Brandt.

Brandt is a winner.
In 1956 Hotchkiss merged with Brandt to create Hotchkiss-Brandt. Ten years later this combination merged with Thomson-Houston to make the Compagnie Française Thomson-Houston-Hotchkiss-Brandt soon to become Thomson-Brandt.
From the early 1990s on Thomson (since 1893) was a brand of the Groupe Brandt.

More about the history at Wikipedia Technicolor SA (Thomson's new name since 2010).

Frigéco is also part of Thomson-Houston's history. Sometimes Frigéco is undertitled Technique Thomson.

In 1928 THOMson and the Soc. ALSacienne de Constructions Mécaniques created Alsthom to manufacture their electrical equipment. Frigéco was an Alsthom brand. Thomson took the brand back in 1945.

FRIGÉAVIA
la technique aviation
au service du froid

Notice the slightly different wording of the Cavignac advertisement. It says working for the cold. The paintings of the first row seemingly are more customer oriented stating to be at your service and using a friendlier type-face for the brand name.

Frigéavia - refrigerateurs

Frigéavia and Giravia together formed SUD AVIATION who was the maker of the famous Caravelle air-crafts from the 1950s and '60s.

Most of the Frigéavia walls carry the logo of the company. The logo on most murals faded away. The walls of Fère, Argenton and certainly the mural of Martres are good enough to recognize the logo as a combination of six airplanes —Caravelles by the position of the engines— placed noses together in a circle. The sixfold symmetry makes it look like a snowflake. Good find for a company stating la technique aviation au service du froid.

Aérospatiale (the Airbus company) is rooted in Sud Aviation.

Do your cooking with electricity

Zanussi covers the top of a wall with several layers.
Below the Zanussi come several layers:
  • Pompes Compresseurs
  • Martini vermouth
  • BYRRH, vin au quinquina
Notice what the elements (and 16 years) did to this mural: the Martini faded away and as a result the BYRRH became more prominent.

The Zanussi did very well but will nevertheless disappear shortly. The wall will be teared down for a new appartment block. Pitty.

KOOKT ELECTRISCH
or
Do your cooking with electricity

At the bottom in a frame three big letters E N B probably meaning Société d'Électricité du Nord de la Belgique which was founded in 1909 and was absorbed by another company shortly after World War II.

This painting was traced back to 1938!
