Mills in Alto Aragón — exhibit

Alcampell

Alcampell is a village in the Litera region situated on a branch of the N-230 which is the main artery between Lleida, the Valle de Arán and then France. Coming from Benabarre, the North, drive southwards for about 22 km where you'll find a branch to the right. It is the A-1240 leading toward Tamarite de Litera and Alcampell. In Alcampell stay on the main road and drive to the other (west) end of the village. The exhibit of the hurst frame of the Molí de Dalt de Falaguer can be found in a raised village garden in the Calle Montera which is a side road of this main road. The Calle Montera is easily recognized because where both roads meet you'll find marker stones for the old paso cabañera, crossing of livestock (see top of this page). Locals know the place as Parc del Molí, or El Cuartel.

(2) Exhibit of the hurst frame of the Molí de Dalt de Falaguer.

The couple left (3, 5, 7) consists of composite stones with a harp dressing. The upper stone features three round balance pits (3). Four stars each with five arms can be seen on the iron ring around the eye (5), but nothing more. The rings carries no text. Naval gives no source of the stones, but this configuration may be the sign that the stones are from La Ferté, though not from one of the bigger brands.
Other features point in the same direction: composite stones; three round balance pits (3); quarter dressing (7). The fact remains, however, that stones coming from premium suppliers of La Ferté always have the manufacturer's name written in the eye ring: Grande Société Meulière Dupety Orsel & Cie (e.g. Alquézar), Alexandre Fauqueux & Cie (e.g. Sallent de Gallego), or Société Générale Meulière (e.g. Castillazuelo).

(11) Controls of the turbine.

Notice (10) how there was not enough place to mount properly the gears controling the turbine.
As a result , the shaft driving peripheral equipment (2) blocks the wheel (11) that controls the turbine's speed.
