Falling Rock signs in Costa Rica comply with the New World habit
of planting at least some road signs showing a car under a stone shower. We've
found the same rock configuration in
Mexico and the
U.S. of A. but Costa Rica
had the wisdom to extend the car's equipment with lights. That's much safer indeed.
Signs of this type often fail to convince (see also
Argentina,
Chile). Most (if not all) of the boulders won't hit the car
and will land on the road side without any harm done. There is no real menace broadcast.
Ecuador understood that very well and therefore adjusted its design to
become more convincing. The car will soon perish under a real rock storm.
