A small information panel at the site says that this construction
was the economic driving force of the village during part of the 20th century.
In former times the factory housed an oil mill (Fábrica de aceite) and also a flour mill (Fábrica de harinas).
The mill received its power from the
central eléctrica (power station) on the banks of the Río Formiga.
The entire complex is securely locked, and it was impossible to see if any equipment from the previous activities was still inside. We suspect not, due to the pair of stones lying along the street. The spaces may still be in use, as there are some air conditioning units at the back outside; we assume for the agricultural business next door.
