Children's Crossing Signs in Antigua & Barbuda

Codrington, Barbuda, 15.ii.2010; pict. Baeten & De Dier

Antigua & Barbuda is a sovereign monarchy. The head of state titled Queen of Antigua and Barbuda is Queen Elisabeth II of the United Kingdom. That explains why most finds are of the UK type with the naughty girl crushing the poor boy's foot.

Witness the same behaviour: Anguilla, Bermuda, New Zealand and more places.

The sign with the adults is kind of a hybrid. The triangular shape is European but the drawing is American (e.g. U.S.A., Canada). Normally American heads are not connected with the body they control. They hover at a small distance. Some implementations provide in a small cushion where the head can land. Antigua provides in a full fledged neck for the male. Isn't that a good thing? Maybe, in a few years, the same could happen to the girl.
